CopyingThe copying of artwork was our core business when we started in 1984 and even now with digital tools it is still a major part of our work. Making really good photographic copies is a very demanding skill and requires an intimate knowledge of photographic theory and practice. That understanding is vital when scanning or printing pictures using digital techniques too. Today, we use electronic processes to make copies from originals, either film or prints. The original can be almost anything flat - an old photograph, artwork, a drawing or painting or an illustration for example. Size of original can be up A3. For artworks over A3 size we can make high quality 5x4" transparencies.

RestorationIf the original is an old photograph, it may well be damaged in some way; it may be cracked, creased or stained, or bits may be missing. In this case we would scan the original and retouch the image on-screen. All the above faults can be rectified. Then a digital print made on the Pictrography printer would be produced, perhaps on Lustre paper to match the original. Old Victorian or wartime photographs really benefit from this treatment. Your original print is untouched and a new restored print is created. Colour and B/W photos can be restored Copy Prints from old photos - see the Pictrography section of this website - click here. ManipulationImage manipulation is the ability to 'edit' a photograph or artwork. For example it is sometimes necessary to remove something from the background or add a person to a family group photo or montage several images together with no visible join. It is possible to do many things with images, so the best thing to do is to phone us and discuss the options.
